Published local-currency fees, reviewed 7 September 2026. Applicable taxes, payment currency, project scope and any travel, advertising or production costs are confirmed in the proposal. Amsterdam is a base for businesses that serve more than one country, and for many international companies in Europe. That makes the digital work as much operational as creative: languages, market rules, routing of enquiries and consistent reporting have to line up across markets.
How Dutch and international buyers decide
Dutch buyers tend to be direct and pragmatic. They want clear information, honest pricing and a straightforward process, and they react badly to exaggerated claims. English proficiency is high, so international audiences are comfortable with English content, but Dutch still builds trust, especially in consumer and local business.
International B2B buyers who deal with Amsterdam-based companies look for clarity on which entity they are contracting with, which market you serve and how support works.
Amsterdam attracts international staff, so buying teams are often mixed in nationality and language preference. This means your site should work well in English, while Dutch content remains important for local services, public bodies and smaller companies that prefer to operate in their own language.
The search and platform landscape
Google leads search in the Netherlands, with Google Business Profile important for local services across Amsterdam and the surrounding region. LinkedIn is the main B2B network. Dutch consumers use comparison sites and marketplaces in many categories, and online payment habits are distinctive: iDEAL is the familiar bank-transfer method and is expected at many checkouts.
For companies serving several countries, each market may have its own platforms and search habits. A single site structure with market-specific sections is usually safer than separate unmanaged sites.
Sectors and their marketing problems
Logistics, trade and international business services need clear market, product and coverage information. Fintech and technology companies need credibility and regulatory care. Creative, design and tourism businesses face a crowded visual market where messaging matters more than aesthetics.
The recurring problem in Amsterdam is multi-market complexity: different languages, prices, service availability and legal requirements, all feeding one team. Without structure, enquiries and reports become inconsistent.
Businesses linked to the port, airport and wider logistics chain tend to buy through long-standing relationships and trade events. Digital marketing there supports those relationships by making coverage, capabilities and contact routes easy to confirm, rather than replacing them.
What to localise and which rules apply
Decide which markets and languages you serve, and write each from the audience's point of view: Dutch for the domestic market, English for international. Display euro pricing and, where relevant, other currencies, and include company registration details, which Dutch buyers expect to be easy to find.
GDPR applies, with the Dutch data protection authority enforcing it; cookie consent and tracking require careful setup. Advertising rules and sector regulations vary, so confirm them for each market. I build the technical set-up around what your adviser confirms.
Time zones and how we would work together
Central European Time is four and a half hours behind India in winter and three and a half hours behind when Europe moves to summer time, usually from late March to late October. India has no daylight saving, so the gap changes twice a year. With my usual hours of around 10:00 to 19:00 IST, we overlap from 9:00 to 14:30 CET in winter (1:30 pm to 7:00 pm IST) and from 9:00 to 15:30 CEST in summer (12:30 pm to 7:00 pm IST).
Amsterdam teams often work across several time zones, so I can hold a short regular call in your morning and keep a shared tracker so decisions are visible to anyone, in any country. I work from Delhi NCR and have no office in Amsterdam. International clients are quoted flat USD pricing, so there are no rupee conversions or GST on your invoice.
A sensible first 30 to 60 days, and what I need from you
I begin by documenting each market: language, service availability, currency, regulations and who handles incoming requests. Then we review how enquiries are routed and whether context, such as market and product interest, reaches the right team.
The next step is consistent reporting definitions, so a lead, a qualified lead and a customer mean the same thing everywhere. Then we connect analytics, CRM and automation. How long this takes depends mainly on the number of markets and tools involved.
A list of the markets you serve, languages, tools and teams involved, and recent reports from each. I also need to know who owns decisions per market.
I would also like a named decision-maker and a person who handles enquiries, even if they are the same person. With that, the first review can turn into concrete changes in a few working sessions. Pace depends on approvals and how quickly access to accounts is arranged.
Amsterdam clients are quoted flat USD pricing. Multi-market operational work is easiest to scope by number of markets, tools and teams, so I start with a documentation exercise that gives both of us a realistic picture before a project or retainer is proposed.
Mistakes I see in the Amsterdam market
A typical mistake is launching in several markets with a copy of one site, in one language, with one phone number. Local buyers feel the gap quickly. Each market needs at least accurate availability, currency, legal details and contact routes.
Another is inconsistent reporting. If one team counts a lead at a form fill and another at a sales call, the totals cannot be compared and budget decisions become arguments.
- Skipping iDEAL or other local payment methods at checkout
- Routing all enquiries to one inbox regardless of market
- Letting campaign naming differ between regions
- Treating Dutch-language content as optional for local services
Who this suits and who it does not
It suits Amsterdam companies serving multiple markets that need clear operational foundations for marketing: documented requirements, routing and consistent measurement.
It is not right for a single-market business that only needs a brochure site, or for a team expecting me to manage local-language content for every market without native specialists. I coordinate those specialists but do not replace them.
If you operate in a single market with one language, much of the multi-market structure I describe is unnecessary. A simpler setup, with the same care over tracking, will serve you better. Whatever the market, I would rather agree a small first step, see whether the working relationship is useful on both sides, and only then widen the scope. That keeps your risk low and makes it easy for either of us to stop if the fit is wrong. Nothing here is a promise of rankings, leads or revenue; it is a plan for doing the work properly and measuring it honestly.
