Bangkok is a visual, mobile-heavy, LINE-driven market where tourism, retail and services all compete for attention. I work remotely from Delhi NCR with no local office, so here is how I plan work for Thai audiences, what needs a native speaker, and how an hour-and-a-half time gap works day to day.
How Thai consumers research and decide
Thai buyers lean heavily on visuals, peer opinion and social proof. Reviews, short videos and creator recommendations carry real weight, and people will often ask in a chat before buying. Price and promotions are visible decision factors, but so is the feeling that a business looks reliable and responsive.
For higher-consideration categories such as healthcare, property and education, the research stage is longer and moves between search, social and direct conversation. A website that shows who you are, what is included, and how to reach a person quickly tends to do better than one that hides contact details behind a form.
The platforms that matter
Google handles search in both Thai and English, but LINE is the communication layer for much of daily life and business, from customer service to loyalty and broadcast messaging. Facebook remains important, TikTok and YouTube drive discovery, and Instagram matters in lifestyle and fashion categories.
Marketplaces such as Shopee and Lazada, and TikTok Shop, are part of how many consumers shop. In practice, a Bangkok-facing plan has to decide how LINE, social content, marketplaces and your own site connect, rather than optimising each in isolation.
Sectors and their marketing problems
Tourism and hospitality, medical and wellness services, retail, food, automotive, property and education are the sectors I would expect to see. Tourism and hospitality have a seasonality and multi-market problem: different source markets search in different languages and expect different information. Medical and wellness need credibility and clear regulatory-safe wording.
Retail and food businesses usually face a content and repeat-purchase problem rather than a traffic one. This is where short video and a well-built mobile page work together, which is why campaign imagery and the landing page should be briefed at the same time.
What to localise
Thai script needs proper font selection, line-breaking behaviour and spacing, and it behaves differently from Latin text in layouts. Copy should be written or reviewed by a native speaker, because tone, politeness levels and idiom are easy to get wrong. I plan structure and production; a Thai reviewer signs off wording.
Also check Thai Baht pricing, PromptPay and other local payment options, delivery expectations, and your obligations under Thailand's personal data law and advertising rules for your category. These change, so confirm current requirements with a local adviser before launch.
Thai demand moves with the calendar. Songkran in April, the cool-season tourism peak, long weekends and year-end shopping all change what people search for and how much competition you face. Planning content and budgets around those periods works better than reacting to them.
For tourism and hospitality businesses, source markets matter as much as the season. Visitors from different countries search in different languages and use different platforms, so a single English page rarely serves them all. I help identify which two or three source markets deserve dedicated pages and which can be handled with simple translated summaries.
How remote work runs from India
Bangkok is one and a half hours ahead of India and does not observe daylight saving. With my usual day of roughly 10:00 to 19:00 IST, we overlap from 10:00 to about 16:30 IST, which is 11:30 to 18:00 in Bangkok. That covers most of a normal Thai working afternoon.
We keep calls short and written follow-up thorough. Decisions live in a shared document, creative approvals are handled with annotated links, and a weekly or fortnightly review covers progress. I do not have a local office; international clients pay a flat USD price confirmed before work begins.
The first 30 to 60 days
Start with a review of your mobile experience, because most Thai traffic arrives on phones. I test the page speed, the enquiry or checkout steps and the way LINE and other contact options are presented. Then I look at the content you already have and what can be reused.
Weeks three to eight focus on a single campaign or page that can be tested properly: a clear offer, matching visual story, one primary action and measurement that includes LINE clicks. You finish with a documented plan for what to repeat, change or drop.
I do not promise numbers, but I will give you a clean view of what happened and why.
To start well, I need access to your analytics, ad accounts and website, a short description of how an enquiry or order is handled today, and the name of one person who can approve decisions. If you have existing brand assets, photography or video, share those so we know what can be reused.
I also ask for an honest view of your constraints: language capacity, budget range, delivery limits and the things you have already tried. The more clearly you describe those, the more useful a plan I can give you, and the fewer calls it takes to get there.
- Review mobile journey and contact paths, including LINE.
- Define the visual story and the single offer.
- Plan Thai-language review before anything is published.
- Set tracking for calls, chat clicks and form submissions.
- Hold a review and agree the next test.
Mistakes to avoid, and who this is for
Brands often translate a global creative directly and leave it there. Thai audiences notice when tone feels imported. Another mistake is building an attractive campaign page that is slow on mobile or hides the chat option. Foreign tourism brands sometimes target everyone and speak to no one in particular.
Local businesses sometimes invest in social content without a destination that captures demand or a way to know which posts produced enquiries. A modest, well-measured setup beats a large unmeasured one.
This suits Bangkok and Thailand-facing businesses that want a clear campaign plan, a better mobile destination and honest measurement, with a senior person guiding the work remotely. It also fits international brands entering Thailand that need structure before they hire locally.
It does not suit businesses that need an on-the-ground team, production crews or influencer management in person. I will say so early and suggest a better route.
In Thailand, the campaign image, the LINE conversation and the mobile page are one experience, so brief them together.
Visual quality and mobile performance together
Thai audiences expect polished visuals, but the best images are wasted if a page is heavy and slow on mobile. I work with creative teams to set image sizes, video formats and loading behaviour so quality and speed support each other.
A practical test is to load the page on a mid-range phone on a normal mobile connection and try to complete the main action. If it takes too long or the button is hard to find, the problem is not creative quality, it is the experience around it.
